Accountant & Cashier– Sugar Manufacturing

Job Description:

We are looking for a Junior Accountant to support the finance and accounting operations of a sugar manufacturing facility in Uganda.

The candidate will be responsible for maintaining day-to-day accounting records, processing financial transactions, maintaining ledgers, handling reconciliations, and supporting monthly and annual closing activities.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain day-to-day accounting records and financial transactions.
• Record purchase, sales, receipt, payment, and journal entries in Tally.
• Maintain general ledgers, vouchers, and supporting documentation.
• Perform bank, cash, supplier, and customer reconciliations.
• Monitor Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable transactions.
• Prepare basic accounting reports, statements, and schedules.
• Verify and maintain invoices, purchase documents, expenses, and payment records.
• Support monthly, quarterly, and year-end closing activities.
• Coordinate with purchase, stores, production, administration, and other departments for accounting documentation.
• Ensure accounting entries are accurate, complete, and recorded on time.
• Maintain proper financial records and documentation for audit purposes.
• Assist senior accountants and management with accounting-related requirements.
• Perform other finance and accounting activities assigned by management.

Candidate Requirements

• Bachelor's degree/Diploma in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related field.
• 2–3 years of relevant accounting experience.
• Practical knowledge of Tally is mandatory.
• Good understanding of bookkeeping and general accounting principles.
• Experience in ledger maintenance and reconciliations.
• Working knowledge of MS Excel and MS Office.
• Strong numerical and analytical skills.
• Good attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Willingness to relocate to Uganda and work in a factory/industrial environment.
• Experience in manufacturing, sugar, agro-processing, or similar industries will be an advantage.
