Senior Architect

Job Description:

Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced and innovative Senior Architect to join our growing team. The Senior Architect will be responsible for leading design initiatives, developing architectural concepts, overseeing the execution of complex projects, and mentoring junior team members. This role demands a deep understanding of architecture, design principles, and project management. The ideal candidate will be a strong communicator, possess exceptional problem-solving skills, and be comfortable working both independently and in a collaborative team environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Design Leadership: Lead the development of architectural concepts for projects of various scales and complexities, ensuring that designs meet client objectives, budget constraints, and timeline requirements.
Project Management: Oversee all stages of the design process, including conceptualization, schematic design, design development, and construction administration. Ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
Client Interaction: Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, managing relationships, presenting design proposals, and incorporating feedback to refine designs.
Collaboration: Work closely with multidisciplinary teams, including engineers, contractors, and other consultants, to ensure cohesive and efficient project delivery.
Mentorship: Provide guidance and mentorship to junior architects and design staff. Foster an environment of continuous learning and development within the team.
Code Compliance & Documentation: Ensure that designs comply with local building codes, zoning laws, and safety regulations. Oversee the preparation of architectural drawings, reports, and other necessary documentation for project approval and construction.
Innovation & Sustainability: Incorporate sustainable design practices, innovative materials, and cutting-edge technologies into projects to meet environmental and performance goals.
Quality Control: Review and approve design work, ensuring consistency, quality, and accuracy in all architectural deliverables.
Business Development: Contribute to the firm’s growth by identifying potential project opportunities, preparing proposals, and participating in client presentations.

Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture from an accredited institution.
Experience: Minimum of 5-8 years of architectural experience, including significant project leadership and design responsibilities.
Experience across a variety of project types is preferred (e.g., commercial, residential, institutional).
Licensing: Registered Architect (RA) or equivalent, with the ability to acquire licensure in other states as needed.

Skills:

Strong proficiency in architectural design software (AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, Rhino, etc.).
Expertise in building systems, construction methods, and sustainable design principles.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to lead teams, manage client relationships, and collaborate across disciplines.
In-depth knowledge of building codes, zoning laws, and industry standards.

Preferred Skills:

Familiarity with project management software (e.g., Procore, Buildertrend).
Knowledge of LEED certification or other green building standards.
Expertise in BIM (Building Information Modeling) and parametric design.

Work Environment:

Office-based with occasional site visits and client meetings.
Flexible work arrangements may be available depending on the project and location.
