Job Description:

About the Role

We are hiring a Business Development Manager for a fast-growing industrial B2B marketplace platform that connects verified suppliers with global buyers across engineering and industrial product categories. The role focuses on scaling platform adoption by onboarding high-quality sellers and enterprise buyers, driving transactions, and building a scalable partner ecosystem.

This is initially an individual contributor role with strong ownership expectations and will gradually evolve into building and leading a marketplace growth team.


Key Responsibilities

Seller Acquisition & Activation

  • Identify and onboard manufacturers, distributors, exporters, and industrial suppliers across Electrical and Industrial Vaults .
  • Build strong category pipelines (automation, valves, motors, cables, hydraulics, fire & safety, tools, Cables , Switchgears etc.)
  • Drive active product listing adoption and RFQ participation
  • Ensure seller activation, engagement, and repeat transactions

Buyer Acquisition & Marketplace Expansion

  • Acquire OEMs, contractors, EPC companies, exporters, system integrators, and industrial procurement teams
  • Develop relationships with MSMEs and mid-enterprise procurement stakeholders
  • Increase RFQ flow and platform-based sourcing adoption

Ecosystem Development

  • Build category-wise seller networks regionally and nationally
  • Strengthen marketplace liquidity (buyers + sellers both sides)
  • Enable cross-border sourcing opportunities where applicable

Revenue & Transaction Growth

  • Drive GMV growth through strategic seller onboarding
  • Improve conversion from inquiry to order
  • Support pricing alignment and transaction closure coordination

Strategic Ownership

  • Identify new industry clusters and sourcing corridors
  • Recommend category expansion strategies
  • Support marketplace positioning vs platforms like IndiaMART / TradeIndia / Moglix-type ecosystems

Team Building (Phase 2 Responsibility)

  • Build and mentor inside sales / onboarding teams
  • Define acquisition playbooks and onboarding processes
  • Scale regional seller acquisition teams

Ideal Candidate Profile

Must Have

  • 10+ years experience in B2B industrial sales / marketplace growth / channel development
  • Strong network across industrial manufacturers / distributors / engineering procurement teams
  • Experience onboarding sellers OR building dealer/distributor ecosystems
  • Exposure to platform-led business models OR industrial sourcing ecosystems
  • Comfortable handling enterprise conversations independently
