Job Description:

Service Description:

The Desktop Technician analyses computer- and network-related problems reported by end-
users, diagnoses the most effective method to resolve the problem and implements the solution;

Installs, maintains, and troubleshoots the District’s Local Area Network (LAN), Wide Area
Network (WAN), data communications, microcomputers and all peripheral equipment.
Desktop Technician is expected to provide assistance to IT services support engineers on
Technical levels as per below (including but not limited to):


Duties & Responsibilities:


• Under the direction and guidance of IT Services Engineers, install new or relocate existing IT Hardware Assets (PCs and printers, etc)
• Provide technical support for simple PC and printers hardware failures.
• Collect record and maintain up-to-date inventory of all IT hardware for PC’s, printers, etc.
• Monitor the inventory of computer assets and inform the Team Leader to place orders for items that are low on stock.
• Receive stationery, peripherals and other ancillary equipment, and verify delivery details.
• Participate in the write-off exercise of obsolete IT hardware and update IT inventory records.
• Arrange the dispatch of end-user hardware items to AGP Sites.
• Follow up and arrange for vendor collection of failed hardware under warranty or maintenance contract.
• Process and respond to end-user requests for changing printer consumables, such as toners, printer heads, ink cartridges, etc.
• Participate in IT Projects for installation and upgrade of IT Hardware following standard procedure.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as required to fulfil job function or asassigned.

Experience Required:

• 4 - 5 years of IT work experience in IT Hardware/Software environments
