Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced Senior Tax Accountant with strong hands-on exposure to Australian taxation and compliance. The role requires end-to-end responsibility for tax preparation, review, compliance accuracy, and client deliverables, while working closely with Australian firms.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review Australian tax returns for:

    • Individuals

    • Companies

    • Trusts

    • SMSFs

  • Handle BAS, IAS, and PAYG compliance

  • Interpret and apply Australian tax legislation accurately

  • Review work prepared by junior accountants and ensure quality control

  • Liaise with Australian clients for clarifications and queries

  • Manage deadlines in line with ATO lodgement calendars

  • Ensure documentation, working papers, and audit trails are maintained

  • Support continuous process improvement and SOP adherence

Technical & Professional Requirements

  • Strong working knowledge of Australian taxation laws and ATO compliance

  • Experience with accounting and tax software, such as:

    • Xero

    • MYOB

    • QuickBooks

    • Handi / BGL / APS (preferred)

  • Excellent attention to detail and analytical ability

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills (English)

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

Preferred Profile

  • Prior experience working with Australian CPA firms

  • Experience reviewing and mentoring junior team members

  • Comfortable working in structured offshore delivery environments

  • Not a trainee or entry-level role

  • Not limited to data entry or basic tax prep

  • Requires accountability and ownership
