Project Manager – Oil & Gas
Job Description:
Role Objective
We are looking for an experienced Project Manager – Oil & Gas to lead the planning, execution, and successful delivery of oil and gas projects within the approved scope, schedule, budget, quality standards, and company policies. The role will be responsible for coordinating multidisciplinary teams, managing client and stakeholder relationships, and ensuring smooth project execution while proactively addressing risks and challenges.
Key Responsibilities
1. Strategic & Client Management
Develop comprehensive project plans covering scope, objectives, timelines, resources, budgets, and deliverables.
Establish project execution strategies aligned with client requirements and organizational objectives.
Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and key stakeholders.
Understand client requirements and ensure project deliverables meet agreed expectations.
Support Business Development and Pre-Sales teams with project feasibility assessments, cost estimation, execution strategies, and proposal development.
Identify project risks, opportunities, and potential challenges and develop appropriate mitigation plans.
2. People & Team Leadership
Lead and manage multidisciplinary project teams across engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, HSE, quality, and other functions.
Define roles and responsibilities and ensure effective utilization of project resources.
Provide guidance, coaching, and performance feedback to team members.
Identify training and development requirements and promote continuous learning.
Resolve conflicts and ensure effective collaboration across project teams and functions.
3. Project Planning & Execution
Plan, coordinate, and oversee project execution from initiation through completion and handover.
Develop and monitor detailed project schedules, milestones, deliverables, and critical paths.
Ensure projects are executed within approved scope, cost, schedule, quality, and safety parameters.
Monitor project progress and take corrective actions to address delays, resource constraints, and execution challenges.
Coordinate with Engineering, Procurement, Construction, Commissioning, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless project execution.
4. Budget & Cost Management
Prepare and monitor project budgets, forecasts, and cost plans.
Track project expenditure and ensure effective cost control.
Monitor actual costs against approved budgets and identify variances.
Ensure optimum utilization of manpower, materials, equipment, and other project resources.
Support project profitability through effective cost and resource management.
5. Procurement & Contract Management
Coordinate with Procurement and SCM teams for timely sourcing of materials, equipment, and services.
Support vendor selection and evaluation based on technical, commercial, quality, and delivery requirements.
Participate in contract negotiations and ensure compliance with contractual obligations.
Monitor vendor and subcontractor performance and resolve commercial or execution-related issues.
Ensure timely procurement in line with project schedules.
6. Quality, HSE & Risk Management
Ensure strict adherence to HSE policies, statutory requirements, and industry standards throughout project execution.
Implement project-specific quality assurance and quality control processes.
Coordinate inspections, audits, testing, and quality documentation.
Identify, assess, and mitigate project, operational, commercial, and execution risks.
Ensure timely implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
Maintain a strong safety and quality culture across project sites.
7. Project Monitoring & Reporting
Establish project monitoring mechanisms and track key performance indicators.
Prepare and present weekly, monthly, and periodic project progress reports to management and clients.
Highlight project status, milestones achieved, cost performance, schedule deviations, risks, and critical issues.
Maintain accurate project documentation, records, meeting minutes, technical reports, and contractual correspondence.
Conduct regular project review meetings and ensure timely closure of action items.
Key Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, preferably Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical, or a related discipline.
Relevant experience in Oil & Gas / EPC / Engineering Projects.
Proven experience in managing end-to-end oil and gas projects.
Strong experience in project planning, execution, budgeting, scheduling, procurement, contracts, quality, and HSE.
