Agriculture Manager – Sugar Industry

About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Agriculture Manager to oversee sugarcane cultivation and agricultural operations for a sugar manufacturing facility in Uganda.

The ideal candidate should have strong hands-on experience in sugarcane agriculture, farm management, crop planning, and field operations, with prior experience in African sugar operations preferred.

Key Responsibilities
Manage and oversee day-to-day sugarcane farming and agricultural operations.
Plan and monitor sugarcane cultivation, planting, irrigation, fertilization, pest and disease management, and harvesting.
Develop seasonal agricultural plans and production targets.
Monitor crop health, field conditions, and overall farm performance.
Ensure optimum crop productivity and efficient utilization of agricultural resources.
Supervise agricultural staff, field teams, and farm activities.
Coordinate with the factory and other operational departments to ensure timely and adequate supply of sugarcane.
Monitor agricultural productivity against production targets.
Maintain agricultural records, field reports, and production data.
Ensure compliance with company procedures, safety standards, and agricultural best practices.
Identify operational challenges and implement appropriate corrective measures.
Support management with agricultural performance updates and operational reports.

Candidate Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Agronomy, Horticulture, or a related field.
5–7 years of relevant experience in the sugar industry.
Strong hands-on experience in sugarcane cultivation and farm management.
Strong knowledge of crop planning, irrigation, fertilization, pest and disease management, and harvesting.
Experience managing agricultural teams and field operations.
Strong understanding of agricultural productivity and resource optimization.
Prior experience in African sugar operations will be preferred.
Strong planning, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Good team management and coordination capabilities.
Ability to independently manage agricultural operations and achieve crop production targets.
Willingness to relocate to Uganda for the agreed contract period.
