Assistant Manager -A&A (Audit)

Position Overview:
Company is one of the largest independent CPA and business advisory firms in Northern New England. Our office in India is seeking an Assistant Manager of Assurance who will work collaboratively with members of the team to execute audit procedures based on clients’ business, risks, and internal control processes. Ideal candidates will possess technical knowledge, including ability to interpret audit and accounting standards, strong project management capability and excellent communication skills.
What you’ll do:
• Coordinates and leads engagement planning process (under supervision of Supervisor, Manager or Partner), including scheduling of planning meeting and fieldwork, discussions with appropriate client and company personnel to understand client's current business activity, design of test work procedures, audit program preparation, review of business agreements, etc.
• Performs more difficult or complex procedures, such as the evaluation of accounting reserves, inventory valuation and obsolescence, deferred income taxes, revenue recognition, complex income tax accruals, etc.
• Supervises and reviews work of Staff Accountants.
• Assists with identifying audit and accounting issues and resolving them.
• Communicates progress of engagements, issues and resolutions to client.
• Assists in presenting financial statements and management letters to clients at wrap-up meetings.
• Monitors engagement budget and alerts supervisor of potential concerns and suggests fee modification actions.
• Monitors staff performance and alerts supervisor of training or development needs.
Preferred Skills, Experience and Education:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting
• Chartered Accountant/Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification achieved or working towards
• Minimum 4+ years professional experience in public accounting
• Excellent technical skills
• Proficient in the use of computers, accounting software and tax software programs
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
• Ability to train and supervise staff in accounting, auditing, software skills, etc.
• Ability to perform under time pressures and meet deadlines
• Strong work ethic, honest and ethical
