Job Description:

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Tax Accountant & Bookkeeper with experience in T1 and T2 tax preparation, bookkeeping, accounting, and payroll for Canadian CPA firms. The ideal candidate should have a minimum of 2-3 years of experience in the Canadian tax and accounting domain and demonstrate expertise in managing the financial affairs of Canadian businesses and individuals.

Key Responsibilities:
 
  T1 and T2 Tax Preparation is plus:
  - Prepare and file T1 individual tax returns, ensuring compliance with Canadian tax laws and regulations.
  - Prepare and file T2 corporate tax returns for small to medium-sized businesses in accordance with CRA guidelines.
 
  Bookkeeping & Accounting:
  - Maintain accurate financial records for clients, ensuring all transactions are properly recorded.
  - Reconcile bank accounts, process journal entries, and manage accounts payable/receivable.
  - Prepare financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
 
  Payroll Management:
  - Handle payroll processing, including calculating employee wages, deductions, and statutory remittances (CPP, EI, and income tax).
  - Ensure timely and accurate payroll tax submissions to the CRA.
 
  Client Support:
  - Work closely with clients to gather financial information, answer queries, and provide financial insights.
  - Support clients in compliance with Canadian tax regulations, bookkeeping standards, and payroll requirements.
 
Requirements:
 
- A minimum of 3 years of experience working in a CPA firm with a focus on Canadian taxation and accounting.
- Proficiency in T1 and T2 tax preparation, bookkeeping, and payroll processes for Canadian entities.
- Strong understanding of Canadian tax laws, accounting standards, and CRA regulations.
- Expertise in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero, Sage) and tax preparation software.
- Exceptional attention to detail, analytical skills, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Excellent communication skills for client interactions.
 
Qualifications:
 
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- CPA designation or similar accounting qualifications (preferred but not required).
- Strong proficiency in English, both written and verbal.
