Job Description:

 

Role Overview:

We are looking for a dynamic and experienced leader to head the Quality & Operations Department for our transformer manufacturing unit. The ideal candidate should have a proven track record in quality assurance, process control, regulatory compliance, and operational excellence. This role requires strategic vision, technical expertise, and strong leadership to drive quality improvements, supplier management, and process optimization.

Key Responsibilities:

Quality & Compliance Leadership

  • Establish, implement, and maintain Quality Management Systems (QMS) as per ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and OHSAS 18001.
  • Ensure compliance with IEC 60076, IEEE, BIS, and ANSI transformer industry standards.
  • Lead supplier quality management, vendor audits, and supplier development programs.

Operational Excellence & Process Control

  • Drive Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma (Black Belt/Master Black Belt), and Continuous Improvement (Kaizen, 5S, TPM) initiatives.
  • Oversee in-process quality control, inspection, and testing to ensure defect-free transformer production.
  • Implement failure analysis techniques like Root Cause Analysis (RCA), CAPA, and FMEA to reduce non-conformance.

Testing & Quality Assurance

  • Supervise high-voltage testing, impulse voltage testing, insulation resistance analysis, and short-circuit withstand tests.
  • Optimize Statistical Process Control (SPC) techniques to enhance manufacturing efficiency and quality.
  • Oversee final product validation, customer audits, and complaint resolution to ensure customer satisfaction.

Leadership & Team Development

  • Lead and mentor quality assurance, testing, and supplier management teams.
  • Develop and execute training programs on quality standards, compliance, and best practices.
  • Work closely with senior management to align quality initiatives with business objectives.

Must-Have Technical Expertise:

  • QMS & Regulatory Compliance – ISO 9001, ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001, IEC 60076, ANSI/IEEE Standards.
  • Process Improvement Tools – Six Sigma (Black Belt), Lean Manufacturing, SPC, Kaizen, 5S, TPM.
  • Testing & Inspection – Impulse Voltage, Short-Circuit Withstand, Insulation Resistance, Dielectric Stress Analysis.
  • Failure Analysis & Risk Mitigation – RCA, CAPA, FMEA, Reliability Testing.
  • Software & Tools – Minitab, SAP (PP & QM Modules), ERP Systems.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • B.E./M.E. in Electrical, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering.
  • 15+ years of experience leading quality assurance & operations in transformer manufacturing.
  • Certified Six Sigma Black Belt/Master Black Belt, ISO Lead Auditor, and Supplier Quality Auditor (Preferred).
  • Strong expertise in team leadership, vendor negotiations, and regulatory compliance.
