Credit Risk Manager (Credit Underwriting)

Role Overview
We are looking for a seasoned credit manager with 7–10 years of experience in MSME lending, preferably within an NBFC setup. The ideal candidate will be a qualified Chartered Accountant (CA) who has a strong track record in underwriting MSME business loans, LAP, equipment loans, and supply chain finance. This role will be based in Pune and will be pivotal in maintaining credit quality while supporting business growth.
Key Responsibilities
1. Credit Underwriting:
a. Conduct detailed financial analysis and credit risk assessment for MSME borrowers.
b. Underwrite business loans, LAP, equipment loans, and supply chain finance proposals in line with internal credit policy.
c. Evaluate borrower financials, business models, banking behavior, and collateral quality.
2. Policy & Process Compliance:
a. Ensure adherence to credit policies, processes, and regulatory guidelines.
b. Recommend necessary modifications to existing policies based on market dynamics.
3. Portfolio Monitoring:
a. Track portfolio performance, identify early warning signals, and take proactive steps to mitigate risks.
b. Engage in regular portfolio reviews and reporting.
4. Stakeholder Coordination:
a. Liaise with internal teams (Sales, Operations, Legal, and Risk) to ensure smooth disbursement and documentation.
b. Collaborate with external partners such as valuation agents and credit bureaus.
5. Technology & Automation:
a. Contribute to digital underwriting workflows and credit automation initiatives.
Experience Requirements
•Chartered Accountant (CA) with 7–10 years of post-qualification experience in credit underwriting.
•Prior experience with NBFCs or banks in the MSME lending space is essential.
•Proven expertise in underwriting business loans, loans against property (LAP), equipment loans, and supply chain finance.
•Strong understanding of financial statements, ratio analysis, and cash flow projections.
•Familiarity with credit scoring models, rating tools, and regulatory compliance.
•Excellent decision-making and communication skills.
•Based in Pune or willing to relocate.
Key Skills
•Proficient in credit risk assessment—financial ratios, banking & GST analysis, bureau and collateral assessment.
•High attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
•Experience with tech-enabled credit evaluation and alternate data usage.
•Exposure to digital lending platforms or fintech collaborations.
•Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
•High degree of integrity and trustworthiness.
