Senior Group Accountant / Finance Manager - Australian Accounting
Job Description:
Senior Group Accountant / Finance Manager - Australian Accounting
About the role
You will own day-to-day finance operations and management accounting across all three companies in the group: accurate books, timely reporting, clear cash-flow visibility and disciplined financial controls. You will be the first finance hire in India and work as an extension of the Australian team, on the group's own systems and approval processes.
Key responsibilities
• Manage accounting across all three companies and keep clear entity-level records.
• Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank transactions, reconciliations and the general ledger.
• Prepare monthly management accounts – P&L, balance sheet, cash-flow reporting and variance analysis.
• Maintain aged receivables and payables and follow up outstanding balances.
• Prepare weekly cash-flow updates, payment schedules and funding requirements for management.
• Coordinate supplier and customer invoices, credit notes, payments and receipts.
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, financial modelling and management reporting.
• Monitor project and job profitability, margins and major cost movements.
• Support payroll processing, expense claims and employee-related finance administration.
• Make sure transactions are coded to the correct entity, project and cost centre, with supporting documentation.
• Work with the group's Australian accountants, auditors, tax advisers, banks and insurers as required.
• Prepare accurate records and schedules to support Australian GST, BAS, FBT and payroll compliance.
• Implement and maintain finance procedures, approval controls and reconciliation checklists.
• Identify unusual transactions, cash-flow risks, overdue accounts and control issues, and escalate them promptly.
• Support finance system improvement, automation and integration across the group.
How success is measured
• Monthly accounts completed accurately and on time.
Bank, AP and AR reconciliations completed within agreed deadlines.
• Receivables ageing and overdue debt actively managed; cash-flow forecast updated weekly.
• Few unreconciled or incorrectly coded transactions; clear variance explanations.
• Strong compliance with group finance procedures and approval controls.
